Authorities in Astana are conducting raids in all five districts to uncover the sale of non-smoking tobacco products like nasvai and snus, as well as to prevent the open advertising and sale of vapes and e-cigarettes.
During the raids, over 100 trading establishments were inspected. Police department officials, in collaboration with district authorities, identified around 50 cases of selling and distributing non-smoking tobacco products. For instance, in the Baykonyr district, approximately 100 kg of nasvai were confiscated.
"Shop owners found in violation of the law have been issued fines amounting to 25 monthly calculation indicators, which is 92,300 tenge. 598 individuals have been held administratively accountable for violating the ban on consuming tobacco products under Article 441 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan," shared Erzat Kokenov, a police inspector from the Esil Police Department.
"There are discussions underway regarding amendments to relevant laws. These amendments propose criminal liability not only for vapes but also for the use of nasvai. These measures aim to completely prohibit nasvai," emphasized the president.
