Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are planning to install water counters at each other's borders to accurately measure the volume of water consumed by both countries. The water counters will enable real-time monitoring of water consumption. Experts from both countries are currently identifying suitable locations for the installation of the counters.
Furthermore, negotiations are in progress with international organizations to involve them in the project. Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Nurzhan Nurzhigitov, mentioned that the installation of the counters will facilitate online monitoring of water volumes consumed by both countries. Discussions are scheduled for April to implement similar projects with other neighboring countries. This initiative follows the recent decision to extend the mutual stay period for citizens of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan without registration.
