Kazakh Senate Updates President on Legislative Reforms and Future Plans

The Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, met with the Chairman of the Senate, Maulen Ashimbayev, to discuss the Senate's legislative support for reforms in the country. Ashimbayev informed Tokayev about the Senate's progress over the past months and upcoming plans. He emphasized that the Senate's main priority is implementing the President's directives for the country's development.

Currently, the Senate is reviewing laws related to women's rights, child safety, healthcare, migration, communication, digitalization, science, and education. Additionally, the lower house is considering 10 bills initiated by the Senate on various topics. Looking ahead to 2024, the Senate plans to review five Codes and laws on state procurement, mass media, and heat energy.

Ashimbayev also briefed the President on the Parliament's Commission monitoring the implementation of national sustainable development goals. He highlighted the activities of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. The Senate is actively engaging with local deputies to enhance their collaboration.

The Senate Speaker noted the upcoming 30th anniversary of local representative bodies in the country, with plans for an international conference in April 2024. President Tokayev praised the legislative support for reforms and emphasized the importance of regional development in national policy, urging the involvement of local deputies in this process.
