Almaty's Economic Growth and Seismic Safety Measures Report to President Tokayev

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Almaty's mayor, Erbolat Dosayev, on March 21, 2024. Dosayev presented a report on the city's socio-economic development, highlighting a dynamic economic growth with a 1.7% increase in the city's economic indicator. Local budget revenues surged by 55% to 287.5 billion tenge, while investments in the city's infrastructure rose by 24.5% to 190 billion tenge.

Dosayev also discussed the implementation of new urban development requirements aimed at the city's polycentric development, strengthening seismic safety, and eliminating random construction. He updated the President on seismic safety measures, stating that after recent earthquakes, inspections were conducted on multiple buildings with no significant damage found. Comprehensive inspections on more buildings are ongoing, with plans to cover 13.2 thousand objects in 2024.

Furthermore, Dosayev mentioned a "reboot" of the waste management system, a new comprehensive approach to maintaining green spaces, and the signing of service contracts with maintenance organizations for three years to enhance financial stability and service quality. President Tokayev emphasized the importance of seismic safety for national security, affecting the protection of the population, economic assets, and the environment.

President Tokayev visited Almaty on a working trip, addressing the public on March 21, 2024, during the celebration of Nauryz. The event included performances by Kazakh singer Dimash Kudaibergen. The government's focus on economic growth and safety measures demonstrates a commitment to improving the quality of life and infrastructure in Almaty.
