Kazakh President Meets Director of National Seismological Center in Almaty

On March 21, 2024, in Almaty, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, met with the director of the National Scientific Center for Seismological Observations and Research, Daulet Sarsenbayev.

During the meeting, Daulet Sarsenbayev presented a report on the current activities of the scientific center, highlighting the procurement of equipment for 11 out of 16 seismic stations in the city, funded with 527 million tenge in 2023. Additionally, 25 observation points were opened thanks to targeted funding between 2021-2023, and 10 stations were partially modernized and six new ones were opened as part of international cooperation efforts.

President Tokayev emphasized the important tasks entrusted to the scientific center in developing and applying scientific methods for earthquake forecasting. It is worth noting that President Tokayev arrived in Almaty for a working trip on March 20, 2024.

On March 21, the President addressed the public at Astana Square in Almaty, extending his congratulations to all Kazakhstani people on the occasion of Nauryz. The renowned singer Dimash Kudaibergen also performed before the President and the residents of Almaty.
