Minister of Emergency Situations Assesses Readiness of Almaty Emergency Services

The Minister of Emergency Situations, Chingis Arinov, has evaluated the preparedness of the territorial units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) in Almaty.

During the first day of his working visit to Almaty, Chingis Arinov conducted inspections of the flood protection structures in the Aksai River basin and visited the central base of the Republican operational rescue team. He was shown the canine teams, emergency rescue equipment, and gear by the MES leadership.

On the same day, at the "Vertodrom" training ground, the Minister inspected the operations of the City Emergency Response Headquarters, the readiness of the civil defense forces of the metropolis, the civil defense regiment of the MES, and the communication setup between units.

A tent camp for displaced populations and a mobile hospital of the MES Disaster Medicine Center and the "109" Rescue Service for medical assistance have been set up at the training ground.

The Minister also visited the fire departments in the city to assess their equipment and facilities. The visit concluded with a tour of the renovated specialized unit on Ryskulov Avenue, responsible for protecting the Alatau district.

According to the MES, Almaty is currently served by 20 fire departments for firefighting, but the construction of an additional 15 fire depots is required to enhance the city's fire protection capabilities.

Previously, on March 23, a landslide occurred near the "Zhailau" ethnic cafe in Almaty, prompting recommendations for its closure due to its proximity to a private school.
