in Politics / Kazakhstan - by

Recent inspections in healthcare institutions in the Northern Kazakhstan region have revealed serious violations, including irrational use of medical drugs, fictitious vaccination, and falsification of official documents.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, as of March 5, 2024, over 70 cases of fictitious vaccination against measles and Siberian plague, as well as falsification of an official document by medical workers at one of the city's clinics, have been uncovered.

Furthermore, it was found that expired vaccines against measles, mumps, rubella, and hepatitis A, worth 7.8 million tenge, were stored in the healthcare organ storage facility.

On February 4, 2024, based on the materials provided by the Prosecutor's Office, pre-trial investigation under Article 385 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, "Forgery, manufacture, and sale of counterfeit documents," was initiated by the Police Department of Petropavlovsk, and investigative actions are underway.

The violations were mainly attributed to healthcare institutions placing orders for immunobiological drugs without legal justification as stipulated by the Budget Code.

The press service of the Prosecutor's Office of the Northern Kazakhstan region stated that measures are being taken to rectify the identified violations and hold responsible officials accountable under the law.

In January 2024, Vice Minister of Healthcare and Chief Sanitary Doctor, Aizhan Esmagambetova, explained the reasons why the Kazakh vaccine against coronavirus, QazVac, has not yet received approval from the WHO.
