Kazakh President Discusses Cooperation with Chinese Official in Successful Meeting

The Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, held a meeting with the Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China, Erkin Tuniyaz, in Urumqi. The discussions focused on the development prospects of Kazakhstan's cooperation with China, particularly with Xinjiang province.

President Tokayev underscored China's significance as a global economic powerhouse and reiterated Kazakhstan's dedication to fostering successful cooperation. He emphasized the pivotal role of Xinjiang in strengthening Kazakhstan's diverse relations with China across various sectors like trade, industry, transportation, logistics, agriculture, and tourism.

Erkin Tuniyaz expressed appreciation for President Tokayev's hospitality and commended Kazakhstan's efforts in combating extremism and upholding regional stability. He recognized the enduring friendship between China and Kazakhstan, crediting the strategic leadership of Presidents Xi Jinping and Tokayev in aligning the Belt and Road Initiative with Kazakhstan's "Nurly Zhol" economic development strategy.

President Tokayev expressed optimism that the upcoming visit of Xinjiang's Chairman of the People's Government to Kazakhstan would bolster interregional cooperation and cross-border collaboration. The meeting ended with President Tokayev's optimistic view on fortifying ties between the two regions.

Additionally, on the same day, the Kazakh President met with US Senator Steve Daines.
