The government of Kazakhstan has made changes to the regulations concerning the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population. The amendments include revising the department's responsibilities related to overseeing compliance with labor legislation, safety and labor protection requirements, employment legislation, pension provision, social protection for individuals with disabilities, mandatory social insurance, special social services, guardianship over incapacitated individuals, as well as coordinating labor rights protection for Kazakhstani citizens working abroad.
Additionally, the ministry's functions have been expanded to include participation in developing legislative acts and international treaties, determining the minimum monthly wage, establishing rules for registering and recording work-related accidents, submitting accident reports electronically to the authorized labor authority, and more. These changes will come into effect on April 7, 2024.
Furthermore, starting from January 1, 2025, the Ministry of Labor will take on new responsibilities such as managing the registry of independent experts in medical and social expertise, defining criteria for including and excluding experts from the registry, evaluating the experts' work results, setting payment rules for their services, and determining tariffs for medical and social expertise services.
This decision marks a significant step towards enhancing the ministry's capabilities in ensuring labor rights protection and social welfare in Kazakhstan. The introduction of these amendments reflects the government's commitment to improving the country's social security system and promoting a fair and safe working environment for all citizens.
