Kazakh President Tokayev Attends Boao Asian Forum in China

On March 28, 2024, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev participated in the opening ceremony of the plenary session of the Boao Asian Forum (BAF) in Hainan province, China.

This year, the 23rd forum is themed "Asia and the World: Common Challenges, Shared Responsibilities." President Tokayev addressed the forum as an honorary guest, emphasizing the platform's role in dialogue and international cooperation amid global uncertainty fueled by geopolitical turbulence and economic shocks.

Tokayev highlighted the slowing global GDP growth rates and the challenges posed by trade tensions among leading countries. He stressed the need for new development paradigms to prevent missed opportunities in the upcoming decade.

The President noted Asia's leading role in sustainable development, projecting that the continent will contribute to 60% of global GDP growth this year. He emphasized Asia's share in world trade, significant foreign direct investments, technological advancements, and human resources, pointing towards an "Asian Renaissance."

President Tokayev expressed confidence in Asia's potential to drive global growth and development in the coming years, praising the Boao Forum for its innovative approach to achieving economic progress and China's commitment to global development.

On the morning of March 28, 2024, Tokayev arrived in China, where he was welcomed by BAF Board of Directors Chairman Ban Ki-moon and Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China.
