Security Drills to be Conducted in Kazakhstan Following Recent Terrorist Attack

On March 29th, the National Security Committee (KNB) in the capital of Kazakhstan will be conducting anti-terrorism drills. The drills aim to practice tactical actions in urban settings.

According to the KNB press service, the anti-terrorism drills are scheduled to take place in Astana on March 29th and 30th, 2024, focusing on locations with large crowds. Special KNB units will be practicing tactical maneuvers in urban conditions during the exercise.

On March 22nd, 2024, individuals in camouflage attire stormed the "Crocus City Hall" lobby and opened fire with automatic weapons, just minutes before a concert by the rock band "Picnic." The death toll from the terrorist attack on March 27th has risen to 143 people.

In response to the attack in the Moscow region, on March 29th, 2024, Attorney General Berik Asilov instructed regional prosecutors to assess vulnerable terrorist targets.
