19th Meeting of SCO Security Council Secretaries to be Held in Astana

The official representative of the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aibek Smadiyarov, shared details about the upcoming meeting of the Security Council Secretaries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states in Astana. The meeting, scheduled for April 2-3, will include Iran as a full-fledged member of the SCO for the first time, along with invited observer states Mongolia and Belarus.

The agenda will focus on various international issues under the SCO's mandate, such as counterterrorism, separatism, extremism, illicit drug trafficking, transnational organized crime, and international information security. Discussions will also touch upon enhancing cooperation within the UN, CICA, CSTO, and the SCO frameworks.

A protocol is anticipated to be signed at the conclusion of the event, outlining the member states' collective efforts in advancing regional security partnerships. Additionally, the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs had previously issued a statement aimed at Kazakh citizens residing in Russia.
