The news was announced on April 1, 2024, on the Akorda website. Earlier, on March 14, the Senate deputies ratified the Protocol amending the Treaty between Kazakhstan and Lithuania on legal assistance and legal relations in civil, family, and criminal matters.

The Law aims to improve the provisions of the Treaty between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Lithuania on legal assistance and legal relations in civil, family, and criminal matters of August 9, 1994, by amending Article 4 regarding the immediate notification of each party through diplomatic channels about the designated central authorities, their functions, and contact details.

Kazakhstan reached a similar agreement with France in 2023.
