After a scandal erupted in February 2024, a new general director has been appointed at the Atyrau Oil Refinery. Abzal Doszhanov, born in Atyrau, has been selected for the position.
Doszhanov began his career in 2006 at the Atyrau Oil Refinery as a process operator and rose to become the head of the hydrocracking shift. From 2023 until now, he held the position of head of the oil processing department at KazMunayGaz.
On February 16, a scandal broke out between the management of the Atyrau Oil Refinery. Deputy General Director and Chief Engineer Adilet Shoshanbasov accused the general director Galymzhan Zusambayev of inappropriate behavior. As a result, both were relieved of their duties following the commission's investigation by KazMunayGaz.
