On April 3, 2024, the senators ratified an agreement on mutual recognition of academic degrees within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The law aims to facilitate automatic recognition of academic diplomas across member states, enhancing labor market mobility within the Union.
According to the agreement, academic degrees such as PhD, Doctor of a specific field, Candidate of Sciences, and Doctor of Sciences will be recognized without the need for additional national recognition procedures, except for cases where degree holders seek specific employment benefits.
The anticipated outcomes of this law include fostering the exchange of scientific personnel and integrating the educational systems of EAEU member states, ultimately strengthening scientific ties between universities and research institutions within the Union.
The corresponding agreement was signed by the governments of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia on June 8, 2023, in Sochi.
