In Russia, a simplified procedure for obtaining citizenship has been in effect for residents of Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Moldova for several months. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced the number of people who have taken advantage of this opportunity.
On April 3, while presenting the annual report in the State Duma, the head of the Russian government reminded that the simplified procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship for citizens of Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Moldova has been in place for three months.
Mishustin stated that over 700 people have utilized this opportunity within the three months of the decree's implementation. He emphasized that Russia will continue to simplify the process of obtaining citizenship for those who deserve it.
In December 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on accepting citizens of Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Moldova into Russian citizenship, making it easier for residents of these countries to obtain a Russian passport. The Prime Minister highlighted the government's commitment to simplifying procedures for those deserving individuals who aspire to become Russian citizens.
