Kazakh President Tokayev Meets with Uzbek President Mirziyoyev

On April 5, 2024, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held an informal meeting with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to discuss further strengthening the Kazakh-Uzbek strategic partnership and alliance. The two leaders acknowledged the successful development of bilateral cooperation in all areas.

President Tokayev expressed satisfaction with the progress of the collaboration between the two countries. He highlighted the active efforts of both governments in implementing agreements, following roadmaps, and executing trade contracts. The mutual trade turnover reached $4.4 billion in 2023.

Joint projects in various sectors such as industry, energy, transportation, logistics, and agriculture are being implemented, with 60 projects totaling over $2.5 billion in investments and the creation of more than 13,000 jobs. The construction of the International Industrial Cooperation Center is also progressing successfully.

President Tokayev emphasized the vital importance of the Kazakh-Uzbek partnership for the sustainable development of both countries. He supported the adoption of the Strategic Partnership and Alliance Program between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan until 2034.

The presidents exchanged views on a wide range of economic cooperation issues, including increasing bilateral trade, collaboration in energy, transportation, water management, and the IT sector. They also discussed regional agendas and coordinated their positions on international interactions.

President Tokayev's visit to the Uzbek city of Urgench on April 5, 2024, marked a significant step in enhancing the ties between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. He was warmly welcomed by President Mirziyoyev at the airport, reflecting the strong bond between the two nations.
