Kazakhstan President Tokayev Meets Georgian Parliament Chairman for Strengthening Bilateral Relations

On April 12, 2024, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, highlighting the importance of enhancing relations with Georgia as a key partner in the South Caucasus region.

Tokayev emphasized the strong foundation of friendship and mutual understanding between Kazakhstan and Georgia, essential for significant advancements in deepening bilateral ties. He also stressed the crucial role of inter-parliamentary dialogue in strengthening state-to-state contacts, with the Kazakhstan-Georgia Friendship Group playing a vital role in expanding cooperation horizons.

The Kazakh President noted the presence of Kazakh businesses across various sectors of Georgia's economy, contributing to further enhancing the trade and economic relations between the two countries.

Acknowledging the significance of cultural and humanitarian relations, Tokayev congratulated the friendly Georgian people on their national football team's historic qualification for the final stage of the European Championship, wishing them continued success.

In response, Shalva Papuashvili expressed gratitude for the warm reception and considered his visit a milestone as the first official visit by a Georgian Parliament Chairman to Kazakhstan. He reaffirmed Georgia's commitment to strengthening relations with Kazakhstan, particularly in the sphere of transport and logistics cooperation.

Papuashvili also supported the joint development initiative of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TMTM), indicating Tbilisi's eagerness to deepen comprehensive ties with Astana in various areas.
