Kazakh President Cancels International Forum Due to Severe Flooding

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has announced the cancellation of the International Forum in Astana on June 13-14 this year due to massive floods in the country. The decision was made to save finances for dealing with the aftermath of the destructive natural disaster.

"In connection with the unprecedented flooding in Kazakhstan and the need to save financial resources for the elimination of the consequences of massive destruction and providing assistance to the country's citizens, I have decided to cancel the International Forum Astana on June 13-14 this year," the president wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) page.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed hope that the invited participants of the event will understand and accept this decision. The International Forum in Astana will resume in 2025, as announced by the president.
