in Politics / Kazakhstan - by

During a session in the Mazhilis on April 22nd, deputy Elnur Beisenbayev announced that state employees in Kazakhstan will be prohibited from engaging in gambling activities. This restriction is part of a draft law concerning the gambling industry, lotteries, and lottery operations.

Beisenbayev explained that the ban will apply to all civil servants, including military personnel of special state bodies, totaling around 220,000 individuals. They will be restricted from participating in any form of gambling, including bookmakers, casinos, and online casinos.

He also noted that online casino operations are already prohibited in Kazakhstan. However, under the new amendments, organizers of such activities will face criminal liability.

Previously, members of the Mazhilis approved amendments in the first reading of the draft law regarding the gambling industry, lotteries, and lottery operations. These changes introduce new age restrictions for participating in gambling activities.
