Kazakh President Tokayev Thanks Uzbek Counterpart for Flood Assistance

On April 23, 2024, a phone call took place between Kasym-Jomart Tokayev and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. During the conversation, the President of Kazakhstan expressed gratitude for the assistance provided in response to the floods in several regions of Kazakhstan.

According to Akorda, Tokayev thanked Mirziyoyev and the people of Uzbekistan for their solidarity and support. The presidents also discussed further strengthening Kazakh-Uzbek strategic partnership and the implementation of previous agreements, highlighting the dynamic development of bilateral relations and regional cooperation.

The leaders exchanged views on current regional and international issues. During the massive floods in Kazakhstan, millions of people united to combat the natural forces. Residents of neighboring countries also joined in, as evidenced by Ali Batyru from Uzbekistan who arrived in Uralsk. The cook prepares pilaf daily for 500 people, showcasing the spirit of solidarity during challenging times.
