President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Renat Bektyurov, the managing director of the International Financial Center "Astana".
During the meeting, Renat Bektyurov informed the head of state that since its launch, the financial center has helped attract investments to the country totaling over $11 billion, surpassing the initial target set for 2025. This includes $3.5 billion attracted in 2023 and the first three months of the current year, according to Akorda.
Furthermore, Bektyurov reported that in 2023, the IFCA saw a record number of new participants, with over 670 companies registered (in total, more than 2600 companies from 78 countries worldwide). Participants of the center in 2023 and the first three months of the current year contributed tax payments amounting to 48.7 billion tenge to the country's budget. The dispute resolution institutions, namely the IFCA Court and the International Arbitration Center, successfully handled 767 commercial cases in 2023.
The President outlined several key tasks for the further development of the financial center. He emphasized the important role of the IFCA in attracting green financing to the region and in the development of the Middle Corridor. Over 60% of green bonds and loans in the country were issued with the support of the IFCA Green Finance Center. Joint ventures under the Middle Corridor project operate within the jurisdiction of the financial center.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also underscored the need for government bodies and supervisory financial institutions to consolidate efforts in attracting investments to the economy of Kazakhstan by actively utilizing the infrastructure of the IFCA for deal-making purposes.
