New Minister of Digital Development Appointed by Kazakh President Tokayev

On May 6, 2024, the head of state, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, appointed a new Minister of Digital Development.

The newly appointed minister is Zhaslan Madiyev.

"By the decree of the head of state, Madiyev Zhaslan Khasenovich has been appointed as the Minister of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan," stated the Akorda.

Zhaslan Madiyev was born in 1983 in Almaty. He graduated from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Columbia University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

His professional career began in 2004 as a specialist at the International Financial Institutions Department of the International Relations Department of Alliance Bank JSC.

From 2007 to 2008, he served as the Chief Manager of the Corporate Finance Department at the Sustainable Development Fund Kazyna JSC.

In 2008, he worked at the Strategic Analysis and Research Center of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and at the National Welfare Fund Samruk-Kazyna JSC.

From 2009 to 2010, he was the Deputy Chairman of the Management Board at Kazyna Capital Management JSC.

Between 2010 and 2014, he held the positions of Managing Director, Board Member, and Deputy Chairman of the Management Board at the Development Bank of Kazakhstan JSC.

From 2014 to 2015, he held managerial positions within the structure of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During 2017-2018, he served as the Acting Vice President and Vice President for Finance at the National Company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC.

In 2018, he was appointed Chairman of the Management Board for Finance at the National Company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC.

From 2019 to 2020, he held the position of Deputy Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From October 2020 to January 2022, he worked as the Deputy Chairman of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In his most recent appointment, Zhaslan Madiyev replaced Bagdat Musin, who was relieved of his duties on April 30.
