Kazakhstan Appoints Kairat Umarov as Permanent Representative to United Nations

On May 16, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev appointed Kairat Umarov as the Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the United Nations.

This was announced by the president's press service.

"By the decree of the head of state, Umarov Kairat Yermekovich has been appointed as the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Nations, he has been relieved of his previous position," the statement said.

By another decree, the head of state relieved Akan Rahmetullin of the position of Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the UN.

Kairat Umarov was born in 1963 in Uzbekistan. He graduated from the Almaty Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages and completed an internship at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain.

He started his career as a teacher at the Almaty Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages. Over the years, he has worked in various diplomatic roles including as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador to the United States, and Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

Additionally, on May 16, the president appointed the Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the International Civil Aviation Organization.
