The Secretary-General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, Imangali Tasmagambetov, provided insights on Armenia's current status within the organization. In an interview with TASS, Tasmagambetov confirmed that Armenia has recently not been actively involved in the work of the CSTO Secretariat.

He emphasized that despite Armenia's decision, the organization continues its operations in full compliance with CSTO regulations. Tasmagambetov addressed Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement regarding the country's freezing of participation in the Treaty, stating that no official communication regarding membership suspension had been received by the Secretariat.

Tasmagambetov expressed concerns over certain developments and sentiments among Armenian elites but highlighted the hope for Armenia's leadership to assess various scenarios regarding the organization thoughtfully. He underlined that Armenia remains an ally, and all existing commitments remain in place.

On February 23, 2024, it was announced that Armenia had frozen its participation in the CSTO. Pashinyan cited unfulfilled obligations under the Collective Security Treaty concerning Armenia as the reason for this decision.
