Doctors at Almaty Multidisciplinary Clinical Hospital Continue Surgeries During Strong Earthquake

Doctors at the Almaty Multidisciplinary Clinical Hospital (AMCH) did not stop performing surgeries during a strong earthquake. The AMCH press service reported on March 4.

According to the press service, hospital staff moved their patients to a safer location. However, doctors in the operating rooms remained in place and continued with the surgeries.

One of the doctors, obstetrician-gynecologist Gulzhakhan Zhumadulaeva, shared her experience of successfully completing a planned cesarean section despite the earthquake.

Cardiac surgeon Timur Ibragimov mentioned that the earthquake struck while he was performing aortocoronary bypass surgery on a 68-year-old patient. He emphasized the importance of saving the patient's life in any emergency situation.

Traumatologist Bekzat Beisenov recounted operating on a woman with a femoral fracture during the earthquake, highlighting the dedication of all medical staff to continue their work.

Earlier on March 4, 2024, the National Scientific Surgery Center named after A.N. Syzganov published a video showing doctors continuing surgeries despite the earthquake.

Almaty experienced another strong earthquake on March 4, 2024, with significant tremors felt by residents at 11:22. This event follows a similar earthquake in January 2024.
