The Chief of the Contractual and Claims Department at the Legal Department of "Kazakhmys Corporation" is under suspicion of extortion. The company itself provided this information on March 14th.
On March 13th, the Department of Combating Organized Crime of the Internal Affairs Department of the Karaganda Region, with the participation of the security directorate of "Kazakhmys Corporation," detained the chief of the Contractual and Claims Department of the Legal Department of the Central Region on suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Article 194, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan – "Extortion," as stated in the official release.
Currently, investigative measures are being taken against the detainee.
Another case of extortion was uncovered in Astana in February, where a man demanded 4 million tenge, threatening to disclose intimate photos and videos involving his victim on social media.
