According to the Ministry of Transport, the president of the enterprise, Alp Er Tunga Ersoy, provided detailed information on the construction of the new terminal. Currently, the new international terminal building is 93% complete, with all necessary equipment and airport facilities procured, some of which are already being installed.

The new terminal is designed to provide passenger comfort with mother and child rooms on each floor, facilities for people with limited mobility, a children's play area, rest areas, co-working zones, a VR room, and a pet toilet. Additionally, a museum of Kazakhstani aviation will be featured in the new terminal. With the renovation of the existing terminal, the overall capacity of Almaty International Airport will increase to 14 million passengers per year.

Quality control of construction materials is being conducted based on the standards of projects already implemented by TAV Airports Holding in airports such as Antalya, Tunisia, Ankara, Skopje, Zagreb, and others. The new terminal is scheduled to start operations in the summer of 2024, as stated in the press release. The airport president also outlined the company's plans for the next 50 years within the master plan framework.

Upon the new terminal's operation, the current terminal building will undergo renovation and be fully refurbished to serve domestic flights. Earlier, on February 20, the airport president, Al Er Tunga Ersoy, addressed reports regarding a monthly salary of $40,000, stating that his salary is significantly lower than that amount, without disclosing the exact figure.
