During a meeting with fellow deputies and the Minister of Health of Kazakhstan on March 18, 2024, Asqat Aymagambetov, a member of the Mazhilis, criticized the ministry for its lack of effective solutions to healthcare issues.
Aymagambetov expressed frustration that the ministry's responses to problems seemed repetitive and uninspiring, focusing on blaming poor management and increasing contributions rather than addressing underlying issues. He emphasized the need to improve the methodology of the Compulsory Social Health Insurance System (OSMS) and acknowledged the challenges related to contributions and management in the healthcare sector. Aymagambetov called for clearer answers from the ministry's new leadership to address these concerns.
In a related development, Tleukhan Abildaev, the director of the Almaty branch of the Social Health Insurance Fund, raised the question of whether Kazakh citizens can reclaim their OSMS contributions if they have not utilized public healthcare services within a year.
