The first day of the international tournament Shotsikas-2024 in Lithuania proved to be successful for Kazakh boxers. Four athletes emerged victorious against their opponents.
According to the Boxing Federation, heavyweight boxer Amanat Sabirgali triumphed over Armenian Goran Paparyan and advanced to the semifinals. The athlete from Atyrau will now face the tournament host Jonas Yazevichyus in the next round.
In another match, Faruk Toktasynov in the 71-kilogram category won his first bout against Polish opponent Mateusz Urban. Up next, he will compete against Ukrainian boxer Alexander Trofimchuk.
Prior to that, Jandos Kydyraliev secured a victory over Irishman Anthony Malanaphy by unanimous decision from the judges.
Additionally, Almat Abduali defeated Welsh boxer Axel Hegarty in the quarterfinals of the 60kg weight category. He is now set to meet Ukrainian Timur Boboshko in the semifinals.
Earlier, it was reported that two Kazakh boxers had already brought victory to Kazakhstan at a boxing tournament in Italy.
