Kazakhstan's silver medalist from the 2021 World Championships, Serik Temirzhanov, faced a controversial defeat in his very first fight at the international tournament "Great Silk Road" in Baku.
In the 1/8 finals in the weight category up to 63.5 kg, Temirzhanov lost by a split decision to local boxer Ruslan Rustamov. Interestingly, after Rustamov was announced the winner, he triumphantly raised Temirzhanov's hand.
It is worth noting that in the third round, Serik Temirzhanov managed to knock down his opponent. However, in the same round, the referee deducted one point from the Kazakh athlete.
On March 22, four Kazakh boxers concluded their fights with victories at the Shotsikas 2024 tournament in Lithuania.
