Kazakh boxer Timur Kabdeshov competed in the semi-finals of the Great Silk Way international boxing tournament in Azerbaijan. Kabdeshov faced off against Russian champion Maxim Kuznetsov in the ring, delivering powerful attacks in an intense match.
After a closely contested battle, Kabdeshov emerged victorious by a split decision from the judges, securing his place in the final. This event marked the second encounter between Kazakh and Russian athletes in the tournament.
Furthermore, Temirtas Zhusupov (up to 48 kg) and Sagyndyk Togambay (up to 92 kg) from Kazakhstan also progressed to the final rounds. Earlier, Serik Temirzhanov, a silver medalist at the 2021 World Championship, controversially lost his initial match in the "Great Silk Way" tournament in Baku.
