Elena Rybakina Loses in Miami Open Final for Second Consecutive Year

in Sport / Kazakhstan - by

Kazakhstani tennis player Elena Rybakina was unable to defeat American Danielle Collins in the final match of the WTA 1000 series tournament in Miami. The game lasted 2 hours and 59 minutes, ending with a score of 5:7, 3:6. Rybakina served five aces, converted one out of 11 break points, and did not commit any double faults.

Earlier in the tournament, Rybakina emerged victorious against Danish player Clara Tauson (ranked 91st), Americans Taylor Townsend (ranked 72nd) and Madison Keys (ranked 18th), Greek Maria Sakkari (ranked 9th), and Belarusian Victoria Azarenka (ranked 32nd). Despite her impressive performance throughout the tournament, Rybakina fell short in the Miami Open final for the second consecutive year.

In the updated world rankings, Elena Rybakina will maintain her position in fourth place. The gap between her and the players ahead, Cori Gauff, Aryna Sabalenka, and Iga Swiatek, was too significant. However, Rybakina now holds a considerable lead over Jessica Pegula, who is trailing behind her in the rankings.
