Kazakhstan National Team Drops Three Positions in FIFA Rankings

in Sport / Kazakhstan - by

On April 4th, the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) released an updated version of the national team rankings, revealing that the Kazakhstani team has dropped three positions to 103rd place.

The current ranking of Magomed Adiev's team in the latest FIFA rankings reflects their recent performance, marked by two consecutive defeats. One of these matches, a 2-1 loss to Luxembourg, was a friendly game. However, the significant 0-5 defeat against Greece on the road to Euro 2024 will have a lasting impact on the fans and experts alike, leading to a downgrade in the FIFA rankings.

In the updated FIFA rankings, the top national teams in the world have largely maintained their positions, with Argentina (1858 points) and France (1840.59 points) leading the pack. Belgium has climbed to the third position (1795.23 points), displacing England (1794.9 points) to fourth place.

The rest of the top 10 teams, in descending order, include Brazil, Portugal, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, and Croatia. The next FIFA ranking update is scheduled for June 20th.

The FIFA World Rankings, introduced in 1993, serve as a relative indicator of a national team's strength at the current moment, reflecting the team's growth dynamics. The points in the rankings are influenced by the team's match results, the strength of opponents, and the significance of the matches played. Points are added or deducted based on the outcomes of each match according to the rules set by FIFA.
