The Kazakhstan national team emerged victorious in the first round of the II Division Ice Hockey World Championship in Canillo, Andorra on April 7th.
According to the Committee for Sports and Physical Culture, in Group A, Kazakhstan defeated Mexico with a score of 4:2. The goals were scored by Pernesh Ashimova, Daria Moldabay, Anastasia Orazbayeva, and Munira Sayakhatkyzy.
On April 8th, the Kazakhstani team will face the team from Chinese Taipei at 16:00 Astana time.
In other sporting news, Kazakhstan's synchronized swimmers secured victory at a stage of the World Cup in Beijing.
