Kazakh Trio Helps Metallurg Reach Gagarin Cup Final

On April 15th, the hockey club "Metallurg", featuring three Kazakh players, defeated "Avtomobilist" with a score of 3:2 in the seventh match of the Gagarin Cup semi-final series.

In the decisive matches of the current Gagarin Cup final, players from the Kazakhstan national team - Nikita Mikhaylis, Valeriy Orekhov, and Maxim Mukhametov - will take to the ice. The Kazakh trio will try to help their team win the third trophy in "Metallurg's" history.

The team from Magnitogorsk will compete in the KHL playoffs final for the fifth time, having previously won the Gagarin Cup twice (in 2014 and 2016). Now, the club with three Kazakh players will face "Lokomotiv" from Yaroslavl in the final series.

President of the KHL, Alexey Morozov, congratulated "Metallurg" on reaching their fifth Gagarin Cup final and winning the Eastern Conference title. The series against "Avtomobilist" was a highlight of this season's playoffs.

It is worth noting that "Metallurg" and "Avtomobilist" set a historical record in the seventh game, surpassing the previous record for the number of goals scored in Gagarin Cup semi-finals with 40 goals.

Kazakhstan national team leader, forward Nikita Mikhaylis, is conserving his energy after scoring the winning goal in the quarterfinals against "Spartak". Fans hope to see him shine in the final games against "Lokomotiv".

The final series will kick off on April 18th in Magnitogorsk at the "Metallurg" home arena, starting at 19:00 local time in Kazakhstan.
