Highly Anticipated Unification Fight Announced Between Russian Boxing Champions

In a special press conference held in London on April 15th, an announcement was made regarding the upcoming unification bout between renowned Russian champions, Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol.

The esteemed boxers, Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev, both undefeated in their careers, have signed a contract for the much-awaited fight. The showdown, eagerly anticipated by millions of fans worldwide, is set to take place on June 1st in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The future battle will determine the undisputed world champion in the light heavyweight division. The boxers have already had their first face-off in anticipation of the clash.

Dmitry Bivol, a 33-year-old native of the Chuy Region in Kyrgyzstan, holds the WBA and IBO light heavyweight titles with a perfect record of 22 wins. In his last bout on December 24, 2023, he defeated British boxer Lyndon Arthur.

On the other hand, 39-year-old Dagestani boxer Artur Beterbiev (20-0) is the reigning champion in the WBC, IBF, and WBO light heavyweight divisions. He last entered the ring in January, securing a seventh-round knockout victory over another Englishman, Callum Smith.

Dmitry Bivol is well-known to boxing enthusiasts for his victory over the super middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. In 2022, Alvarez faced Gennady Golovkin from Russia after the rematch with Bivol didn't materialize. The trilogy ended in Alvarez's favor.
