The Asian Judo Championship in Hong Kong has concluded with the Kazakhstani team securing the third-place spot in the team tournament. The team clinched the bronze medal after defeating the judokas from Turkmenistan with a score of 4:2. Another bronze medal went to representatives from Uzbekistan. However, the Kazakhstani judokas were unable to overcome the Japanese, the pioneers of the sport, in the final.
The Kazakhstani judokas concluded their performances on the tatami in Hong Kong with a total of four bronze medals. Apart from their success in the team competition, Kazakhstani athletes also excelled in individual events. Galia Tynbayeva (up to 48 kg), Esmigul Kuulova (up to 63 kg), and Zhanarys Rakhmetkali (up to 66 kg) will be bringing home bronze medals from the Asian Championship.
Reflecting on their performance in the Chinese battles, the Kazakhstani judo team matched their achievement from two years ago when they also secured a spot in the top three at the Asian Championship in team competitions. This time, they triumphed over Turkmenistan to claim the third-place title, having previously defeated Uzbekistan.
