The quarterfinals of the 2024 Asian Futsal Cup began in Thailand with Tajikistan defeating Afghanistan, securing their first-ever ticket to the World Championship. This victory marked a historic achievement for Afghanistan, while Tajikistan had previously reached this stage. The winner of this match would earn a spot in the 2024 World Championship in Uzbekistan.

The intense game between Tajikistan and Afghanistan ended in a 1-1 draw after regular time, leading to two extra-time periods. Tajik player Faizali Sardorov secured victory with a penalty kick. Other quarterfinal matches included Iran vs. Kyrgyzstan, Thailand vs. Iraq, and Uzbekistan vs. Vietnam.

It is noteworthy that two current Asian Cup quarterfinalists recently played friendlies with Kazakhstan in Taraz. Kazakhstan emerged victorious with a 3-2 win against Kyrgyzstan and drew 3-3, but lost 5-6 against Uzbekistan. The 2024 Futsal World Championship is scheduled to take place from September 14 to October 6 in Uzbekistan, with Kazakhstan securing their participation in December 2023.
