Kazakh athlete Erkin Gabbasov secured a gold medal on the first day of competition at the World Cup for Para Rifle Shooting in the R1 discipline, scoring 250.3 points, as reported.
According to the press service of the Sports Training Center for Persons with Disabilities under the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, our shooter proved to be unrivaled at the 2024 World Cup held in Changwon, South Korea. The second place was taken by local athlete Park Jin-ho (249 points), followed by the representative of France, Richard Didier (228.4).
In addition to Gabbasov, our country is represented by four other participants at these competitions in South Korea: Sevda Aliyeva (P2), Sanash Yeshanov (R4, R5), Anna Dovgeleyevich (R2, R3, R10), and Bigaisha Makhayeva (P2). The World Cup in Changwon will continue until May 1st.
It is worth noting that this is not Erkin Gabbasov's first achievement this year. On March 9th, he won a silver medal at the World Cup in New Delhi, India. This medal earned him a license to participate in the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.
As of now, Kazakhstan has secured 12 spots for the Paralympics. One of them was recently acquired by Temirkhan Dairbek, who emerged victorious at the 2024 Asian Championships in Para Rowing in the Korean city of Chungju.
