MotoGP Grand Prix Kazakhstan Postponed Due to Countrywide Floods Crisis

in Sport / Kazakhstan - by

The first-ever MotoGP Grand Prix of Kazakhstan in history will once again not take place as scheduled. The reason for this is the floods in the country.

The competition of the best motorcyclists on the planet was initially supposed to take place in 2023 near Almaty, at a specially built racetrack. However, due to technical issues, the Grand Prix debut was rescheduled for June 14-16 of this year.

However, on May 3, the organizers of the MotoGP World Championship announced that the Kazakh stage was postponed to a later date due to the floods.

Unprecedented weather conditions have led to flooding across Central Asia, causing an emergency situation in Kazakhstan and resulting in the relocation of a large part of the population.

"MotoGP considers it irresponsible to impose additional burdens on the authorities and emergency services of the country when they are trying to help tens of thousands of people. We express our condolences and support to the people of Kazakhstan and to all those affected by the floods in Central Asia," stated MotoGP.

This is not the first cancellation of international competitions in Kazakhstan due to flooding. On April 26, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan announced the postponement of the "Games of the Future" event.
