in Sport / Kazakhstan - by

Janibek Alimkhanuly, the world champion in the WBO and IBF middleweight versions (15-0, 10 KOs), has made a statement. He has called out the new WBC titleholder, Dominican Carlos Adames (23-1, 18 KOs).

"Carlos Adames, welcome to my club. Congratulations! Now that you are a world champion, let's arrange a fight," Alimkhanuly wrote on his social media account X (previously Twitter).

Previously, Adames was elevated to the position of full champion after the WBC stripped American Jermall Charlo of the title.

It was also reported that the return of the Kazakhstani boxer will take place at a boxing event by Top Rank on July 13 in Las Vegas, USA. The opponent is currently unknown.

Alimkhanuly made his professional debut in 2016 in his homeland, but after just two fights, he moved to the USA. In May 2022, Alimkhanuly fought for the temporary WBO title, knocking out British boxer Danny Dignum, and was subsequently elevated to full champion status.

In October, the Kazakhstani unified the WBO and IBF titles by stopping German Vincenzo Gualtieri in the seventh round.

In December of last year, we reported that the renowned athlete gifted his boxing gloves to the head of state.
