On May 11, Kazakhstani tennis player Yulia Putintseva was defeated by Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek in the third round of the "thousand" in Rome, Italy.

The match between the Kazakhstani tennis player and the world's number one seed ended in two sets with a score of 6:3, 6:4, lasting 1 hour and 45 minutes.

This was the fourth encounter between the two players, with Swiatek emerging victorious in all previous matches. In the next round, the Polish tennis player will face the winner of the match between Angelique Kerber and Aryna Sabalenka.

Earlier, Putintseva secured a victory in the second round of the WTA-1000 clay court tournament in Rome by defeating the 2017 US Open champion Sloane Stephens with a score of 6:3, 6:2.
