In the Italian city of Santa Croce, the ITF Juniors J300 series tournament has come to an end. In the girls' doubles category, Kazakhstani tennis players Sonya Zhiyenbayeva and Asylzhan Arystanbekova emerged victorious.
In the final, the Kazakhstani duo defeated the Italian pair Noemi Baziletti / Gaia Maduzzi with a score of 6:1, 6:4. This marks the second joint title for Sonya and Asylzhan. In February, the Kazakhstani players secured a win in Cairo at a first-category tournament.
In the singles category, Sonya Zhiyenbayeva reached the final but was defeated by Ukrainian player Elizaveta Kotlyar with a score of 3:6, 2:6. Thanks to her successful performance in Italy, Sonya will climb to a personal best 22nd place in the updated world junior rankings.
Earlier, Kazakhstani players learned about their opponents in the Juniors Davis Cup qualifiers.
