Russian athletes are planning to participate in the V World Nomad Games, which will take place from September 8 to 13, 2024 in Astana.
The news was spread on social media by the Russian Minister of Sports, Mikhail Degtyarev. The participation of Russian athletes in the upcoming Games in Astana was discussed at a meeting with the Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan, Ermek Marzhikpayev.
International sports competitions in ethnic sports have been held since 2014. The V World Nomad Games are set to involve teams from around the world, including countries that are not nomadic. Astana is expecting around 3,000 athletes from more than 100 countries to arrive.
A total of 113 medal sets will be contested at the 2024 Games. The competitions will cover 20 main and 10 demonstration sports, including horse racing, national wrestling styles, intellectual games, traditional archery, national bird hunting sports, traditional folk games, and ethnic sports.
The decision to host the World Nomad Games in our country was made in early October 2022 in the Turkish city of Iznik.
In early 2023, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, instructed to organize the World Nomad Games at the highest level.
