A press release from the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision disclosed the presence of approximately 80 tons of dangerous chemicals, including trichlorosilane and toxic chemicals, at the site of the bankrupt OJSC "Crystal" factory in Tash-Kumyr. A cross-agency commission, accompanied by deputies from the "Yyman Nuru" faction of the Jogorku Kenesh, visited the facility.
The Ministry recommended immediate allocation of funds for the technical and economic justification of neutralizing the hazardous chemicals. Furthermore, there are plans to restore the factory's operations with the involvement of qualified specialists from the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Following an inspection of the non-operational wastewater treatment facility, the commission proposed reconstruction and modernization using regional development project funds. Additionally, a meeting was held with local residents expressing concerns about the proliferation of 30 fish farms along the Naryn River, attributing them to a rise in bacterial, viral, and other diseases.
The Department of Environmental Monitoring collected water samples from the "Tash-Kumyr" wastewater treatment facilities and the Naryn River to identify pollutants. Discussions were also held with representatives from the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change of Uzbekistan regarding the negative impact of a waste recycling plant near the village of Dostuk Nookensky District on local residents' health.
Efforts are underway in the Namangan region of Uzbekistan to rehabilitate a landfill through compaction and burial methods, with completion expected within one to two weeks. The bankrupt OJSC "Crystal" factory is under the State Property Management Agency's jurisdiction, following a court decision returning the plant to state ownership due to illegal appropriation by affiliates of the late criminal authority Kamchi Kolbaev.
