Russian-Kyrgyz Working Group on Climate Issues Meets in Moscow for Collaboration

The first meeting of the Russian-Kyrgyz working group on climate issues took place in Moscow. The Russian delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Economic Development Dmitry Volvach, while the Kyrgyz delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision Mirslav Amankulov. The news was reported by the website "Big Asia."

Dmitry Volvach, addressing the participants, highlighted that Russia is a reliable trade, economic, and investment partner for Kyrgyzstan. Both countries are currently implementing joint projects in the field of green energy.

"Russia and Kyrgyzstan work effectively not only in a bilateral format but also within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Commission, where practical tasks related to combating climate change and other economic issues are resolved at a high interstate level," he said.

The sides discussed the key stages of developing the climate agenda of their countries, reviewed plans for activities in the field of improving energy efficiency, emphasized the importance of using new technologies, developing monitoring and forecasting systems for climate change to take effective measures to combat climate change.

Director of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia Nikita Kondratyev suggested that colleagues from Kyrgyzstan formulate requests on relevant cooperation directions in the climate field and the implementation of Russian practices.

Head of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of Kyrgyzstan Bermet Omurova emphasized the interest in dialogue with Russian experts to improve competencies, disseminate advanced technologies, including in the field of artificial intelligence, and ensure the quality implementation of measures to increase energy efficiency in various sectors of the economy.

In conclusion, the parties agreed to form a list of promising areas for bilateral partnership for closer and more targeted practical cooperation.
