Diplomatic Friendship Games Celebrate 300th Anniversary in New York Assembly Week

In the framework of the United Nations General Assembly Week for Sustainable Development in New York, the first Diplomatic Friendship Games were held, organized by the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the UN with the assistance of the missions of Australia, India, Kazakhstan, Qatar, and El Salvador. The games were dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Mahtumkuli Fraghi as reported by the online publication "Vestiabad".

The Friendship Games program included competitions in football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, pickleball, running, chess, and yoga. A total of 300 athletes from 85 countries and 18 organizations, representing diplomatic and consular missions, the secretariat, and specialized UN agencies, participated in the games.

During the closing ceremony of the games and the awarding of the winners and medalists, the representative of Turkmenistan to the UN, Akjoltan Atayeva, delivered a speech.
