During a press conference at the government building on March 19, Finance Minister Madi Takiyev disclosed the amount allocated from the budget for civil servants' salaries. It was reported that over the past 10 years, Kazakhstan has seen a significant increase in the number of civil servants. The media representatives inquired about the cost to taxpayers of maintaining the government apparatus.
"I can say that the total salary of the entire government apparatus is 1 trillion 32 thousand tenge per year, including the salaries of all civil servants, as well as the maintenance of the military," stated the Finance Minister.
Meanwhile, Vice Minister of National Economy Bauyrzhan Omurbekov noted that in 2022, Kazakhstan optimized the staff numbers of civil servants with a 15% reduction. It was planned to further reduce by 10% in 2022, but the decision to cut the staff numbers was suspended as the head of state deemed the current number of civil servants optimal.
