Kazakhstan Government Implements Measures to Protect Domestic Market

in Economy / Kazakhstan - by

The Kazakhstan government has issued a resolution on March 16, 2024, regarding the exclusion of certain goods and services from the national regime.

The resolution specifies that certain industries will be excluded from the national regime when it comes to state procurement, including machinery, chemicals, metallurgy, construction, and food products originating from foreign countries, with exceptions for goods not produced within Kazakhstan.

Entities listed in the registry of domestic producers of goods, works, and services are eligible to participate in state procurement.

The resolution will come into effect on March 18, 2024, and will be valid for two years.

Another government resolution issued on the same date excludes furniture and machinery products from the national regime for state procurement, with similar exceptions for goods not manufactured within Kazakhstan.

Exclusion from the national regime limits the participation of foreign potential suppliers in state procurement of specific goods, works, and services. This measure aims to protect the domestic market, promote the national economy, and support domestic producers.
